Romeiko is a reddish variety from Chania, susceptible in oxidization and not very deep colored. Studies have shown that it has a genetic affinity with one of the noble varieties of Madeira.
Liastos from Romeiko of Karavitakis winery is, as its name suggests, made of sundried Romeiko grapes, which are harvested overripe and then left under the hot sun for 12 days. The wine ages in oak barrels for at least 36 months.
