In 2007, Bakis Tsalkos, a renowned oenologist, met the family of Dominique Fontvielle-Petridis from Mont Brison, France, a woman who had grown up in a family with a strong wining cultural background. Together they joined their vision allowing it to develop even further. This is how Oenogenesis was set up with the aim to produce wines of the highest quality.
The privately owned vineyards of Domaine are located in the prefecture of Drama and Kavala, where today they occupy an area of 300 acres.
Climate and vineyards are a decisive twin for this and these two areas have been selected. Although the climate in these two areas is Mediterranean, it is characterized by wet, mild winters and large, hot, dry summers, the mountainous volume of Paggaios and the Aegean sea breeze affect differently these two regions.
The cultivation of the vineyards of the estate is carried out according to the standards of organic farming, in the soils that do not contain the water, are rocky, limestone and semi-clay. The lack of food data of the vine are factors that contribute to the production of good quality wines.
Respect for the environment, the flora and fauna of the area, are the inviolable rules for the estate. The varieties grown are Greek: Asyrtiko, Malagousia, Xinomavro and Moschato and the “international” Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Ugni Blanc, Viogner, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
